How the visit goes

A separate kitchen in a block of flats, in a standard state, with no add-ons: from the door to the door it usually takes 3–4 hours, one cleaner. We need access to water, a socket and a free worktop: small appliances and things from the worktops go on the table while we work and then back in their place.

  1. 1

    Book online

You choose the size and state of the kitchen, a date and any add-ons: oven, fridge, hood, cupboards inside. The price appears at once and the confirmation arrives by e-mail.

  2. 2

    A call before the visit

The day before we ask what the worktop is made of, what kind of hob you have and whether the fridge will be emptied. For a neglected kitchen we ask for a photo of the hob and the hood so we can plan the time.

  3. 3

    Arrival and walk-round

We bring degreasers, products for steel and stone, hob scrapers, microfibre cloths and a vacuum cleaner. We check what the fronts and the worktop are made of, and any new product is tested first on a hidden spot.

  4. 4

    Soaking the grease

Degreaser goes on the hob, the pan supports, the hood filters and the dirtiest fronts and is left to work for a quarter of an hour or so. Meanwhile we clean the insides of any appliances ordered as add-ons.

  5. 5

    Cleaning from top to bottom

Hood and wall units, tiles, worktops, hob, base unit fronts, sink and tap, the outside of the appliances, table and chairs. The floor always comes last, because everything that drips ends up on it.

  6. 6

    Handover and payment

We walk round the kitchen with you: fronts against the light, hob, tap, floor. Corrections are made on the spot. You pay after the job: cash, BLIK, card or online.

    Ready to cook

The floor dries in 10–15 minutes, the worktops and hob can be used as soon as they are wiped.

You save the most time by clearing the worktops and the tops of the cupboards before the visit, and by emptying the fridge if you are ordering it cleaned. The hob must be cold: a hot one cannot be scraped safely, and the product dries on it within seconds.

Kitchen cleaning in Krakow: what the service covers

Updated:

Kitchen cleaning in Krakow is a service for one room that gets dirty differently from the rest of the flat. In a bedroom dust settles; in a kitchen dust mixes with steam and cooking grease and turns into a sticky film on the cupboard fronts, the cooker hood, the top of the fridge and the tiles above the hob. That film does not come off with a cloth and washing-up liquid: it smears. That is why the kitchen package starts with degreasing, and only then do we wash and polish everything dry.

Our customers are people who want a clean kitchen before the holidays or after a big party, owners of rented flats between tenants, families moving into a flat after the previous occupants, and anyone who cooks every day and does not have a Saturday to spare for a deep clean of the kitchen. Kitchen cleaning prices in Krakow

We price a kitchen as a package, not by the hour. The price depends on the size of the kitchen, because a kitchenette with a single run of units and a U-shaped kitchen with an island are a completely different amount of fronts, worktop and floor. The package covers everything on the outside. The insides of appliances and cupboards you add as add-ons, so you do not pay for an oven that is already clean. We bring our own detergents and equipment, and travel inside Krakow is free.

A neglected kitchen, with burnt-on grease on the hob and the fronts or thick limescale on the tap, is charged +30% on the package, because the grease has to be soaked, not just wiped off. Add-ons have a fixed price whatever the state of the kitchen. The package is also the minimum order value. With large fitted kitchens that have a lot of cupboards, we confirm the time for the insides by phone before the visit.

What kitchen cleaning covers and what it does not

In the price

  • Degreasing the outside of the cupboard fronts, including handles and edges
  • Cleaning and disinfecting the worktops, also along the wall and behind small appliances
  • Cleaning the hob: induction, ceramic or gas with pan supports and burner caps
  • Cleaning the sink and the plughole, descaling the tap
  • Cleaning the outside of the cooker hood, including the top if it can be reached
  • Wiping the outside of the appliances: fridge, oven, dishwasher, microwave, kettle
  • Cleaning the table, chairs, window sill, door, door handles and light switches
  • Vacuuming and mopping the floor, including the plinths and the area under the edge of the units

Outside the service

  • The inside of the oven, fridge, dishwasher and microwave: paid add-ons from the price list
  • Hood filters and the inside of the hood, and the inside of the cupboards: paid add-ons
  • Degreasing the tiles and grout above the worktop: a paid add-on
  • Replacing silicone and grout, removing mould that has grown into silicone
  • Sanding and oiling wooden worktops, polishing natural stone
  • Cleaning the kitchen window: a separate window cleaning service

Kitchen dirt: what comes off and what stays

In kitchens we meet several kinds of dirt and each needs a different product. Honestly, below: what comes off as part of the package, what needs the neglected-kitchen rate, and what can no longer be cleaned because it is damage to the surface.

Type of dirtResultHow we do it
Sticky grease film on fronts and handlesvery highA degreaser chosen for the front, microfibre, wiped dry so no streaks are left.
Fingerprints on stainless steelvery highA steel cleaner, worked along the grain, polished with a dry cloth.
Greasy dust on top of the cupboards and the fridgehighThe film is softened with degreaser and taken off in several passes.
Burnt-on residue on an induction or ceramic hobhighSoaking, a blade scraper held flat on the wet hob, hob cleaner to finish.
Gas pan supports and burner capshighSoaked in degreaser and brushed; layers baked on over many years come off partly.
Limescale on the tap, spout and sinkhighDescaler on the tap, never on a natural stone worktop next to it.
Coffee, wine and turmeric stains on a laminate worktopmediumA stain paste and time; fresh ones come off, old set-in ones may leave a lighter mark.
Mould in the silicone by the sinklowWe lighten the surface; mould that has grown into the silicone comes back and the silicone needs replacing.
Dull marks from lemon and vinegar on marblenot doneThe acid has etched the stone; only professional stone polishing restores it.
Scratches and burn marks on a ceramic hobnot donePermanent damage to the glass; cleaning does not undo it.
Swollen laminate and discoloured worktop by the sinknot doneWater has got into the board under the laminate; it needs replacing, not cleaning.

If the hob or the oven has a thick layer of burnt-on grease, mark the kitchen as 'neglected' when booking or send a photo. We then plan more time and say plainly what will come off before we start, not after the fact.

Kitchen surfaces: what we clean them with

The same product that degreases tiles brilliantly can dull the lacquer on a front or etch marble. That is why during the walk-round we check what the kitchen is made of, and only then choose the products. Here is a cheat sheet of what we come across most often.

SurfaceWhat we useWhat we avoid
High-gloss lacquered frontsa mild degreaser, soft microfibre, polished drycream cleaners and scouring sponges, which dull the lacquer
Matt and foil-wrapped fronts (MDF)diluted degreaser, wiped dry quicklytoo much water on the edges, which makes the foil peel
Wooden and veneered frontsa pH-neutral product, worked along the grainstrong alkaline products and soaking the wood
Laminate worktopan all-purpose cleaner, stain pasteblades and abrasive powders
Granite or marble worktopa pH-neutral product made for stonevinegar, lemon and descalers, which etch the stone
Quartz composite worktopa neutral product, a gentle paste for stainssolvents and strong alkaline products
Stainless steel: sink, hood, fridgea steel cleaner, worked along the grainwire wool and chlorine-based products
Induction and ceramic hobhob cleaner, a blade scraper on the wet hobscouring sponges and scraping dry
Tiles and grout above the worktopdegreaser, a grout brushstrong acids, which wash out cement grout

Not sure what your worktop is made of? Natural stone feels cold to the touch and has an irregular pattern, quartz composite has an even, repeating pattern, and laminate has a visible edge strip. We will ask about it on the call before the visit anyway.

Kitchen cleaning or the kitchen as part of a flat clean

The kitchen is included in the flat cleaning package too, so the natural question is: why a separate service? The difference is in the scope and in how much time the kitchen gets. Three realistic options side by side.

When to book kitchen cleaning

If you cook every day, the grease on the fronts and the hood turns sticky within two or three months, however carefully you wipe the worktops. That is why a deep kitchen clean once a quarter, with everyday tidying in between, is enough for most homes. With a large family, daily frying or a gas hob without a hood that works properly, every two months is worth it.

The best time to book is before an event: before Christmas Eve and Easter, before family arrives, before photographing a flat for sale or for rent. Owners of rented flats book the kitchen between tenants, because it is the first room a new tenant looks at closely, and the most common reason for a dispute over the deposit.

Before moving into a flat after the previous occupants, it is worth ordering the package together with the insides of the cupboards, fridge and oven: it is the only moment when the cupboards are empty and can be cleaned in an hour. A kitchen after a renovation, with building dust on every surface, is a different job: in that case book the post-renovation clean, where the kitchen is included in the price.

How to keep your kitchen clean for longer

  • Switch the hood on a few minutes before you start cooking and leave it running for a few minutes afterwards: that way it catches the steam before it settles on the fronts
  • Wash the metal hood filters once a month in hot water, or in the dishwasher if the manufacturer allows it; a clogged filter stops catching grease
  • Wipe the hob after every cooking session while it is warm, not hot: a fresh spill comes off with a damp cloth, a burnt-on one needs a scraper
  • Do not put lemon, vinegar or descalers on a natural stone worktop, and wipe up spilt wine straight away
  • Wipe the tap dry after washing up: limescale from Krakow's hard water builds up where the water dries
  • Line the tops of the cupboards with paper or film that you change every few months, instead of scrubbing off dried grease
  • Check the fridge once a week before shopping, and once a quarter wash the shelves and seals with water and bicarbonate of soda

Kitchen grease: why washing-up liquid does not shift it

Fresh grease from a frying pan is oil, and washing-up liquid removes it easily. The problem starts after a few weeks: grease that has settled on the fronts and the hood oxidises, combines with dust and steam, and turns into a yellowish, sticky layer that resembles varnish. Washing-up liquid only softens and smears that layer, while a scouring sponge takes it off together with the shine of the front. Hence the classic result of scrubbing at home: clean streaks on a dirty background and dull patches on the lacquer.

Oxidised grease responds to an alkaline degreaser, but not instantly. The product needs anywhere from a few minutes to a quarter of an hour to dissolve the layer, and that is exactly why we start kitchen cleaning by soaking the hob, the pan supports, the filters and the dirtiest fronts. Meanwhile we clean the insides of the appliances, so no time is lost. After that the film comes off with microfibre in one or two passes, and wiping dry prevents streaks.

A strong degreaser is not suitable for every surface: wooden fronts, veneer and some matt lacquers need milder products and more handwork. That is why during the walk-round we check what the fronts are made of, and a new product is always tested first on the inside of a cupboard door or on the side of a unit against the wall. In a neglected kitchen the same work simply takes longer, hence the +30% rate on the package.

Oven, hood and fridge: the add-ons that make the difference

The oven is the most frequently ordered add-on, and the appliance most easily ruined by home methods. We clean the cavity, the inside of the door glass, the baking trays and the racks. Oven cleaners take a long time to work, so the oven gets its product at the start of the visit and we clean it once it has soaked. We never scrape enamel with metal, and with pyrolytic ovens we ask when the self-cleaning cycle was last used: the ash left after pyrolysis only needs collecting, no chemicals.

In the package we clean the hood on the outside, and the add-on for 50 zł covers the filters and the inside of the housing. Metal filters go into a hot degreaser bath, and we wipe the inside of the hood clean of the film that drips onto the hob when the fan is on. We do not wash charcoal filters, because water ruins them: they are replaced according to the manufacturer's instructions, and we will tell you if it looks like time for new ones.

We clean the inside of the fridge together with the shelves, the drawers and the door seals, where mould and food residue collect. We ask for the fridge to be emptied before the visit, or for space on the worktop for the food while we clean. We do not defrost the freezer as part of the add-on, because that means several hours of waiting. We clean it if it is already defrosted, and we mention this on the call before the visit.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often before the first visit.

The package depends on the size of the kitchen: a kitchenette up to 6 m² is 150 zł, a separate kitchen up to 10 m² 190 zł, a large L- or U-shaped kitchen or one with an island 240 zł. A neglected kitchen is charged +30%. Travel inside Krakow is free, and we bring the detergents.
