Headboard cleaning Krakow by CleanAI covers upholstered, velour and padded bed headboards. We remove dust, body oils, light stains and odours, and show the price before booking.
A headboard with a mattress takes 90–110 minutes from door to door; the headboard alone is 40–60 minutes. We need a socket and enough room to pull the bed about half a metre away from the wall.
Pick the number of beds (the upholstered frame is included in the headboard price), add a mattress if needed, and choose a date. The price is visible straight away and the confirmation arrives by email.
Send a photo through the AI calculator or the chat. It shows the fabric and whether the headboard is smooth, quilted or panelled — that decides how long the work takes.
We bring the extraction machine, the agents and our own water. We pull the bed out, look at the headboard against the light and show you what is sebum and what is ordinary dust.
Dry first: dust off the surface, the seams and the quilting. Then a test of the agent underneath or on the back edge — velour and boucle can be sensitive to water and may release dye.
The preparation works for a few minutes, then the machine rinses it out together with the dirt. On a vertical surface we go top down with less water and finish by pulling the moisture out dry.
We show the result while it is wet and say how long it dries. The bed goes back against the wall only once the edge is dry. You pay after the work: cash, BLIK, card or online.

Times for one polyester headboard, extraction cleaning without the bed frame. Velour and boucle take longer, linen longest of all.
10–15 min
Vacuuming and test
Dust out of the quilting and seams, the label, an agent test on the back edge.
30–40 min
Cleaning
Top down, with less water, pulling the moisture out after every pass.
4–8 h
Drying
The machine takes most of the water at once, the rest goes into the air. Leave the bed pulled out.
after 8 h
You can sleep
The fabric is dry to the touch, quilting included; the cushions go back and you can lean on it.
Do not dry a headboard with a fan heater or a radiator pushed under the bed. Heat pulls moisture out of the foam and up to the surface, leaving a ring, and it can delaminate the MDF board underneath. An open window and a bed pulled away from the wall are enough.

Headboard cleaning means working on vertical upholstery that cannot be taken off and machine washed. We vacuum the surface and the seams, test the agent where it cannot be seen, dissolve sebum and dust with a preparation matched to the fabric, and the extraction machine takes the dirt away with the water. On a vertical panel we use less water than on a sofa: under the fabric there is foam on a board, and a board that has soaked up water never returns to shape.
A headboard gets dirty differently from the rest of the bedroom. The darker patch at head height is sebum and hair products, not dust — it comes out with an enzyme, not with scrubbing. Add hand marks on the sides, dust in the quilting and the smell the fabric collects over years, because nobody airs it. Cleaning takes 40–60 minutes, the fabric dries in 4–8 hours and you can sleep there the same evening.
We work on headboards in fabric, velour, boucle, chenille and linen, on wall panels behind the bed and on upholstered frames. Leather and faux leather headboards are a separate service with different agents. We travel to every district of Krakow and to Wieliczka, Skawina, Zielonki, Niepołomice and Zabierzów.
An upholstered bed is priced per piece, whether the headboard is bolted to the frame or hung on the wall as a panel. The price covers the whole bed: the headboard with its front, sides, top edge and the quilting where dust collects, plus the upholstered frame — the sides, the foot, the base and the legs. Travel within Krakow is included and you see the price before booking.
| Item | Price | Time | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upholstered headboard with bed frame | 150 zł | 40–100 min | the whole bed: headboard plus the sides, foot, base and legs of the frame; vacuuming, fabric test, extraction or low-moisture cleaning, moisture removal |
| Single mattress (one side) | 83 zł | 30–40 min | alternative from the upholstery price list, in the same visit |
| Double mattress (one side) | 165 zł | 45–60 min | alternative from the upholstery price list, in the same visit |
| Cleaning decorative cushions | 15 zł | 10 min | add-on: per piece, filling included |
A headboard in real or faux leather is priced on the leather cleaning list — there we work by hand, without pressurised water. The most common bedroom booking is a headboard plus a mattress in one visit: the machine is already set up and both dry over the same hours.
Headboards rarely carry classic stains — more often it is oil from skin and hair that darkens in one spot over years. Below is what we actually take off and what we leave alone.
| Type of soiling | Success rate | How we do it |
|---|---|---|
| Sebum and hair marks at head height | very high | An enzyme with a long dwell time, then extraction; this is the most common reason for the booking. |
| Dust in the quilting and seams | very high | A crevice brush first, then cleaning; a wet pass without it would rub the dust in. |
| Cosmetics: cream, hair oil, hairspray | high | Degreaser and two passes; old oxidised oil can leave a yellowish shadow. |
| Hand marks on the sides and top edge | very high | Standard cleaning; these spots get dirty faster than the colour suggests. |
| Sweat and bedroom smell | high | Extraction rinses the smell out with the dirt; the smell returns from foam less often than in a mattress. |
| Coffee or tea drunk in bed | high | Fresh spills come out fully, older ones leave a shadow on light velour. |
| Pet hair and paw marks | high | Vacuuming and combing the hair out before cleaning, then extraction. |
| Hair dye | medium | Fresh dye fades a lot, dried dye binds to the fibre; we say so before the work, not after. |
| Pen and marker | medium | Fresh marks usually come out, old ones stay: ink dye binds to the fibre permanently. |
| Sun fading | we do not | That is missing dye, not dirt; cleaning changes nothing. |
| Wear and shine where people lean | we do not | The fibre is mechanically worn; it will be cleaner, but the texture will not come back. |
| Mould on the wall side | depends | It comes off the fabric, not always out of the foam; the damp wall has to be fixed first or it returns. |
If the headboard stands against an external wall and dark specks have appeared, check the wall before booking. Damp from the masonry comes back into the fabric within weeks and no cleaning stops that — ventilation and the wall first, upholstery second.
The material decides how much water we use and whether we go in wet at all. Below is a cheat sheet for recognising your headboard.
| Fabric | How to recognise it | How we clean it and drying time |
|---|---|---|
| Polyester, microfibre | Smooth, slightly rough, water beads up | Full extraction, the best result, dries in 4–6 h |
| Velour | Soft pile, a handprint changes the shade | Less water, brushing the pile one way afterwards, 5–8 h |
| Boucle | Looped, sheep-like, common on new beds | Low moisture, no rubbing: the loop pulls out under friction, 6–8 h |
| Chenille | Thick fluffy weave, pronounced texture | Extraction at lower pressure, 6–8 h |
| Linen and cotton | Matte, soaks up water instantly | Gentle agent, worked across the whole panel to avoid rings, 8–10 h |
| Quilted panels with buttons | Stitching, buttons, hollows | By hand in the hollows, then by machine; 10–15 minutes longer |
| Wall panels behind the bed | Several modules bolted to the wall | Priced by area like a headboard; worked from the top without wetting the wall |
| Leather and faux leather | Smooth surface with no weave | Not in this service: separate leather price list, pH-neutral cleaner and balm |
The care label is usually on the back near the bottom edge or on the mounting strap. W means wet cleaning, S solvent only, X vacuuming only. With S and X a wet clean is out and we say so on the phone before setting off.
Three realistic options for a velour headboard with a darker patch at head height, on a bed in use for four years.
| Criterion | CleanAI | Doing it yourself | Replacing the headboard |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | 150 zł for the whole bed: headboard and upholstered frame | 30–60 zł for a product and a brush | a few hundred zł if the maker sells the part separately |
| Your time | 0, you just open the door | 2–3 hours of work plus drying | waiting for delivery and fitting |
| Risk to the board under the foam | extraction with moisture removal | high: a sponge and water flood the foam, the board swells | none |
| Sebum at head height | enzyme, it comes out | soap spreads the oil wider | a new part, the problem returns in a few years |
| Rings after cleaning | the whole panel worked, no edge | common: a wet patch dries unevenly | none |
| The rest of the bedroom | mattress and frame in the same visit | same risk as with the headboard | not applicable |
| When to choose it | the fabric is intact, dirt and sebum | small, fresh surface soiling | torn fabric, delaminated board, a change of style |
When a darker patch shows at head height. That is sebum and hair products; they oxidise and yellow over time, so the longer you wait the harder it is to get the original colour back. On light velour the mark shows after a year; on dark fabric you only see it against the light, but it is the same thing.
After buying a second-hand bed and before guests arrive. The first is about what somebody else left in the fabric: dust, mites, smell. The second is about how the room looks — a freshly made bed with a soiled headboard looks worse than a bedroom cleaned as a whole, and the headboard with a mattress is one visit.
With allergies and hay fever, because the headboard is the first fabric by your face while you sleep and nobody airs or washes it. Extraction rinses dust and mites out of the quilting with the water, and if you mention the allergy when booking, we rinse longer. Spring is a good moment, together with the mattress.
A sofa has upholstery over springs and foam with space underneath, so surplus water runs down and evaporates. A headboard is usually a few centimetres of foam stretched over chipboard or MDF and stapled in place. Water that gets through the foam stays on the board: it swells, delaminates at the edge and the fabric never sits flat again. That is why we use less water on a headboard and pull the moisture out after every pass.
The second difference is direction. On a horizontal sofa the agent stays where it was applied; on a vertical headboard it runs down, collecting dirt on the way, and leaves streaks along the bottom edge. So we work from the top in short sections and take the solution back before it reaches the bottom. It looks like the same job as a sofa and takes longer over a smaller area.
The third thing is quilting. Buttons and stitching create hollows where dust binds with sebum into a hard layer; the machine cannot reach them, so those spots are done by hand with a brush before the panel is cleaned. A smooth headboard takes 40 minutes, a deeply quilted one with buttons closer to an hour.
A bedroom holds three textiles nobody puts in a washing machine: the headboard, the mattress and the upholstered bed frame. They get dirty for the same reasons at the same rate, and the machine is already set up in the room. That is why they are usually booked together: the headboard with the upholstered frame is 150 zł for the whole bed, plus a double mattress from 165 zł per side.
The order matters. We start with the headboard, because we work top down and do not want to drip onto a cleaned mattress, then the frame, then the mattress last — it dries longest and stays uncovered. The whole bedroom is usually two hours of work and one evening of drying; you can sleep there the same night if we start in the morning.
If there is a rug or fitted carpet in the bedroom we add it to the same visit from the carpet price list. We do not combine textile cleaning with ozonation of the same room on the same day: ozone works on dry surfaces and only makes sense once the fabrics are dry, so it goes on a separate date.
Answers to the questions we hear most often before the first visit.
A headboard together with the upholstered bed frame costs 150 zł for the whole bed, whether the headboard is bolted to the bed or hung as a panel. The frame with its sides, foot, base and legs is included in that price at no extra charge. Travel within Krakow is included.
